Women's History Month No. 23

"Fools are more to feared than the wicked."

"It is necessary to try to pass one's self always:
this occupation ought to last as long as life."

Queen Kristina Augusta of Sweden, (1626-1689), who famously gave up her throne for more meaningful pursuits - oh, what is more romantic and troubling than renunciation, I ask you? Consider this fabulously fascinating woman, a renowned scholar in her world, known as Queen Christina in ours. She is pictured here as she was painted [oooh - check her out HERE] and as she was portrayed, in a marvelous 1933 film by Greta Garbo & Adrian, MGM costume designer.
I would write more, but I have to, simply have to go see the Hunger Games, like right now.
